The classic family sitcom Everybody Hates Chris is getting a remake as an animated series with Chris Rock expected to return as the narrator.
Everybody Hates Chris originally aired from September 2005 to May 2009 on UPN (later became The CW).
CBS Studios is currently developing a reboot of the sitcom, which chronicles Chris Rock’s teenage years and the come-up. Co-creator of the original series Ali LeRoi is also part of the reboot along with Michael Rotenberg, who was an executive producer on the sitcom.
However, there’s no word yet on the involvement of other original cast members.
The sitcom starred Tyler James Williams as Chris with the family members including Terry Crews as his father Julius, Tichina Arnold as mother Rochelle, Tequan Richmond as brother Drew, Imani Hakim as sister Tonya, and Vincent Martella as Chris’s best friend Greg.
The animated Everybody Hates Chris, will add to CBS’s growing portfolio of animated content, which already includes the Star Trek series: Lower Decks at Paramount+ and the upcoming Prodigy at Nickelodeon.
