As part of its Spring Loaded event, Apple has announced new iPad Pros and iMac desktop computers infused with the groundbreaking M1 chip that it revealed last year. Ultra-sleek and offered in a slew of colors, the new iMac is Apple’s most powerful desktop computer to date.

Only 11.5 mm thin, the M1 iMac is as compact as it gets despite the immense 24-inch, 4.5k retina display. It’s bolstered by a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, six-speaker sound system, Touch ID keyboard, matching Magic Mouse colors and macOS Big Sur, making it essential for anyone editing high-def video or imagery. Seven bold colors — green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver — ensure that the new iMac best fits into your workspace with Thunderbolt ports that allow users to easily plug in essential accessories.

“M1 is a gigantic leap forward for the Mac, and today we’re excited to introduce the all-new iMac, the first Mac designed around the breakthrough M1 chip,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, in a statement. “With its striking design in seven stunning colors, its immersive 4.5K Retina display, the best camera, mics, and speakers ever in a Mac, and Touch ID, combined with the amazing performance of M1 and the power of macOS Big Sur, the new iMac takes everything people love about iMac to an entirely new level.”

Orders for the new iMac begin April 30 and it will launch in the second half of May. The 7-core GPU model will be available for $1,299 USD and its 8-core GPU counterpart is $1,499 USD.
